Our repatriation department has been bringing people home for more than three decades, and Europe is a part of the world we know well. Distances may be shorter than elsewhere, but the paperwork rarely is. Each European country has its own rules, and some involve translations, legalisations and consulate appointments before a flight can even be booked.
Over the years we’ve built strong working relationships with coroners, embassies and consulates in London, along with partner funeral directors across Europe. It means we can usually spot a problem with the paperwork early, before it holds anything up.
Our Repatriation Process
1. Initial Contact
Call us any time, day or night. We'll talk you through what the country you're repatriating to requires and what we'll need from you.
2. Documentation
Some European countries need documents translated, legalised and taken to their consulate, some need paperwork from the home country, and others ask for nothing extra. We take care of whichever applies to your destination.
3. Transportation
Once the paperwork is in order, we prepare your loved one and arrange the journey home, usually by air and, for some destinations, by road.
4. Local Arrangements
Our partner funeral directors across Europe receive your loved one on arrival and take them on to the town or city where the family is waiting.
5. Completion
You'll hear from us at every stage, so you always know where things stand and what comes next.
